6 Santa Cruz High vs 11 Mandeville Prep

Santa Cruz High is down 44-66 going into the final quarter. The Fourth Quarter- 10:00 - 6:00: Santa Cruz High enters the quarter looking defeated, but their coach switches to a "suicide" full-court trap. Mandeville Prep, perhaps overconfident with a 22-point lead, begins to play sloppy. Santa Cruz forces four turnovers in two minutes, converting every single one into a three-pointer. The crowd starts to sense a shift.

Score: Santa Cruz 59, Mandeville 72

6:00 - 2:00: The momentum is now a tidal wave. Santa Cruz’s star guard catches absolute fire, hitting three consecutive contested triples—one from the logo. Mandeville Prep’s "better roster" begins to freeze under the pressure of the surging underdog. Their tall big men are being run off the floor by Santa Cruz’s small-ball lineup. A 15-2 run cuts the lead to just one possession.

Score: Santa Cruz 74, Mandeville 77

2:00 - 0:10: The gym is deafening. Mandeville manages a layup to push the lead back to 5, but Santa Cruz answers with an And-1 drive. On the next play, Santa Cruz strips the ball from Mandeville’s point guard and hits a transition layup to tie it! 79–79. With 15 seconds left, Mandeville has the ball. They drive for the win, but Santa Cruz’s undersized center takes a massive charge! 0:10 - 0:00: Santa Cruz has the ball with 8 seconds left. Instead of calling a timeout, their star guard sprints the floor, crosses over two defenders at the top of the key, and lofts a high-arching floater over Mandeville's 6'11" center. SWISH. The ball drops through the net as the buzzer sounds. The Santa Cruz bench storms the court in a total frenzy.
