The Journey- Episode 9

Welcome back to my journey, this week we have 4 games, we are 17-6 through 23 of our 30 game season. We are ranked 5th rising 3 spots from last week. This week we play on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday, and Sunday.

(Our tuesday game against the 16th ranked 11-7 Duncans Prep begins)

Coach Gelmer: This win all but secures our playoff spot boys!

First Quarter:

Duncans Prep lives up to the hype. Their point guard is a blur, blowing past your teammates, while their 6'10" center establishes early dominance in the paint. They jump to an early 10-4 lead. You switch defensively, using your size to neutralize their athletic PG, forcing him to pass. On offense, you exploit their big men's lack of perimeter speed, hitting a three-pointer and driving for two layups to keep Kingston in the fight.

Kingston High: 20 (I have 8 pts, 3 ast)

Duncans Prep: 24

Second Quarter:

The battle intensifies. You and James form a formidable frontcourt duo, combining for several blocks and numerous rebounds. However, Duncans' athleticism is a problem in transition. Sawyer gets a few open looks but struggles to hit against their length. Ant comes off the bench and provides a quick spark with a steal and a layup, but Duncans' depth is formidable.

Kingston High: 40 (I have 16 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast)

Duncans Prep: 45

Third Quarter:

You come out of halftime determined to take control. You dictate the pace, slowing the game down and running the offense through the post. You score 12 points in the quarter, neutralizing their size advantage by using footwork and skill. Kingston's defense forces Duncans into contested jumpers, and the lead shrinks.

Kingston High: 65 (I have 28 pts, 10 reb, 8 ast, 4 blk)

Duncans Prep: 69

Fourth Quarter (Final Score)

The final 10 minutes are intense, with both ranked teams battling fiercely. Duncans Prep maintains a slim lead until the 3-minute mark. With 1:30 left, Sawyer hits a massive, contested three-pointer off your drive and kick. 85-84 Kingston. On the final possession, Duncans’ star PG gets loose, but you rotate over and swat his shot against the backboard! James grabs the board and is immediately fouled. He sinks both free throws with seconds remaining. Duncans' final desperation shot is short.

Final Score:

Kingston High: 87

Duncans Prep: 84

I have 36 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals, and 6 blocks

Kingston High moves to 18-6 and bumps Duncans Prep to 11-8

Coach Gelmer: Nice work! Tomorrow we have Santa Cruz High, they are the best ranked team and are 21-5!

(The game begins)

First Quarter:

Santa Cruz High looks every bit the #1 team in the nation. They are fundamentally sound and athletic at every position. They play a suffocating team defense that rattles Kingston early, forcing two quick turnovers. They leverage their interior presence to score easy baskets. You manage to settle your team down, using your size to score 6 points and distribute 4 assists, keeping the game competitive.

Kingston High: 16 (I have 6 pts, 4 ast)

Santa Cruz High: 24

Second Quarter (Halftime)

Santa Cruz extends their lead, showing excellent depth and consistency. Their offense is efficient, and their defense makes every shot difficult. Sawyer struggles to find space against their elite perimeter defense. Chris and Jamesbattle hard in the paint, but Santa Cruz's big men are relentless. You are forced to take on a heavier scoring load, trying to keep pace with the nation's best team.

Kingston High: 38 (I have 18 pts, 7 reb, 6 ast)

Santa Cruz High: 50

Third Quarter:

You come out of halftime on a mission. You score 14 points in the quarter, including two momentum-shifting dunks and a deep three-pointer. Kingston’s defense clamps down, fueled by your energy and Arnie's vocal support from the bench. James records two massive blocks that electrify the team. The lead shrinks to a single possession heading into the final quarter.

Kingston High: 66 (I have 32 pts, 10 reb, 9 ast)

Santa Cruz High: 69 Fourth Quarter (Final Score) The final 10 minutes are a battle for the top spot in Jamaica. The game is tied at 80-80 with 1:30 remaining. You grab a defensive rebound, sprint the floor, and find Sawyer for a clutch corner three-pointer. 83-80 Kingston. Santa Cruz answers with a quick layup. With 10 seconds left, Santa Cruz has the ball, down by one. Their star player drives to the rim, but you rotate perfectly and meet him at the summit, pinning the ball against the glass for a massive block! You are fouled immediately, sinking both free throws with 0.8 seconds left. Santa Cruz's final full-court pass is intercepted by Marco, and he’s fouled sinking both free throws and theres no time for a full court heave.

Final Score:

Kingston High: 87

Santa Cruz High: 82

I have 42 points, 15 rebounds, 12 assists, 5 steals, and 7 blocks

Kingston High moves to 19-6 and Santa Cruz High drops to 21-6

Coach Gelmer: get some rest because Friday we are playing #3 Frankfield Prep

(The game begins)

First Quarter:

Frankfield Prep establishes their identity early. They play a physical, hand-checking style of defense that makes every pass a struggle for your team. Their big men are broad and powerful, making it difficult for James and Chris to establish deep post position. You (Marco) are forced to play "bully ball" yourself at PG, using your 220lb frame to absorb contact. You score 8 points, mostly on difficult contested layups.

Kingston High: 18 (I have 8 pts, 2 ast)

Frankfield Prep: 22

Second Quarter (Halftime)

The game slows to a crawl—exactly what Frankfield wants. They focus on neutralizing Sawyer, denying him the ball with a face-guarding defender. Kingston’s "super team friendly" offense struggles because the passing lanes are so tight. You decide to bypass the passing and attack the rim directly, drawing three fouls in the quarter. On the other end, Frankfield’s interior offense is surgical, using high-low passing to get easy buckets over your defense.

Kingston High: 35 (I have 18 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast)

Frankfield Prep: 42

Third Quarter:

Coming out of the break, Kingston's defense reaches a new level of intensity. You and James form a wall, meeting Frankfield’s attackers at the rim. You record 3 blocks in the quarter. Offensively, you start using your size to post up their smaller guards at the top of the key, which forces their big men to leave the paint to help. This finally opens up space for Sawyer to hit his first two triples of the game.

Kingston High: 56 (I have 28 pts, 8 reb, 7 ast, 4 blk)

Frankfield Prep: 58

Fourth Quarter (Final Score)

The final 10 minutes are a defensive war. Neither team scores for a three-minute stretch. With 2:00 left, Kingston trails 72–74. You drive, get hammered in the air, and somehow finish the layup for an And-1. You sink the free throw to take a 1-point lead. Frankfield answers with a powerful post-up bucket. 75–76. With 15 seconds remaining, you have the ball. You drive right, draw both of Frankfield's tall big men, and then look away to fire a "no-look" pass to TarTar, who hammers home a dunk with 3 seconds left! Frankfield's final desperation heave is swatted by you into the second row.

Final Score:

Kingston High: 77

Frankfield Prep: 76

I have 36 points, 14 rebounds, 11 assists, 3 steals, and 6 blocks

Kingston High moves to 20-6 and Frankfiel Prep falls to 20-7

Coach Gelmer: lets go boys: you have 4 games left this year including Sunday, Sunday is our easiest game until the end of the season, so you use it as a way to just rest and knock some shots down feel what shots your gonna make next week

(The game against May Pen Prep who are 10-13 begins)

First Quarter:

The game begins with a shooting clinic. Li Ziuxang is unconscious, hitting four three-pointers in the first five minutes, including one from nearly half-court. May Pen Prep is electrified by his hot start. You realize that your "Tall Ball" lineup is struggling to chase him around screens, so you take the defensive assignment yourself. At 6'6", you use your length to disrupt his rhythm. Once he misses two in a row, May Pen’s offense grinds to a halt.

Kingston High: 24 (I have 10 pts, 3 ast)

May Pen Prep: 18 (Li has 12 pts)

Second Quarter (Halftime)

As predicted, the "Li Ziuxang Effect" takes hold. You play him "box-and-one," denying him the ball entirely. Without his gravity, May Pen Prep looks lost. They go nearly six minutes without a field goal. On the other end, you dominate the paint, recording a massive triple-double pace by halftime. You, James, and Chris combine for 10 offensive rebounds this quarter alone.

Kingston High: 52 (I have 22 pts, 9 reb, 8 ast)

May Pen Prep: 28 (Li has 12 points)

Third Quarter:

May Pen Prep tries to run double-screens for Li, but you and Sawyer switch perfectly. Li grows frustrated and begins forcing contested 30-footers, all of which clang off the rim. True to the scouting report, when he misses, they can't score. Kingston outscores them by double digits in the period. You finish the quarter with a highlight-reel block on Li, leading to a fast-break dunk by TarTar.

Kingston High: 78 (I have 34 pts, 15 reb, 11 ast)

May Pen Prep: 38 (Li has 12 points)

Fourth Quarter (Final Score)

The final 10 minutes are a mere formality. You and Sawyer sit for the majority of the quarter, allowing Ant and the reserves to get some run. May Pen Prep finally scores a few baskets against the second unit, but Li Ziuxang finishes the game shooting a poor 5-of-22 from deep. Arnie is on the bench leading the "M-V-P" chants for you as the clock winds down.

Final Score:

Kingston High: 96

May Pen Prep: 50

I have 38 points, 20 rebounds, 13 assists, 2 steals, and 5 blocks

Kingston High moves to 21-6 and May Pen Prep falls to 9-14

So far in my career i have 3 collegiate offers, Arkansas Pine-Bluff, Mississippi Valley State, and Seattle University.

Next week we have 2 games

If you read this far, Thank You very much!
