🏀 BBL Expansion Draft Guide

With the creation of new Division 2 expansion teams, an Expansion Draft will be held to help these teams fill their rosters.

Each expansion team will need to create a big board and each team will need to protect players 24 hours before the draft. Each GM will have 10 minutes to pick before it being auto selected based on power ranking/big board.

🔹 1. Eligible Players & Protections

• Division 1 teams must leave at least 4 players unprotected.

• Division 2 teams must leave at least 3 players unprotected.

• Each team can protect a maximum of 11 players.

• Players that are set to be UFA's are ineligible.

🔹 2. Expansion Teams

• Expansion teams pick in a 10-round snake draft.

• Rounds 9–10 are optional, allowing teams to skip picks if they want.

• Each expansion team can select up to 10 players

🔹 3. Draft Order & Selection Rules

1. Snake Draft

   • Round 1: Team A → Team B → Team C …

   • Round 2: Team C → Team B → Team A …

   • Continues for 10 rounds (last 2 optional)

2. Selection Limits

   • Expansion teams must respect salary caps when picking players.

🔹 4. After the Draft

• Expansion teams may trade or loan players immediately after the draft.

• Drafted players retain current contracts and achievement-based salary rules.

• Teams can sign free agents to complete their 15 player roster.
