Welcome to the Random Mock! This mock is an idea that I've had for a while. PLEASE READ THE FULL DESCRIPTION!
This is my first time running a mock, so please be patient if I cannot answer all questions or respond to messages instantly.
With everything going on right now, I think a fresh mock would be helpful.
I would love it if the mock could make it to be 3 seasons long, but that will probably not happen, since that would take multiple weeks of trading, drafting, and signing. I'm aiming for the mock to still be going strong after the first season and then I'll assess.
This mock will be simmed on 2K25 MyLeague.
Intro
The NBA owners have come together and realized that the talent is too unevenly spread throughout the teams. With the top of the 7-8 teams Western Conference being stronger than all but maybe 2 of the Eastern Conference teams, a fantasy draft has been instated. The order of the draft is totally random, to insure that all teams start on a clean slate from here on.
As a GM of a team, you will receive a completely random roster of any 14 players. You will have all of your draft picks. So any draft picks that have been traded, are back with their original team. And on the topic of draft picks, the stepien rule has been abolished, so be careful with your draft picks. Since all teams are relatively even in talent, the salary cap has been replaced with a budget. The budget is described under the Free Agency section.
The mock will start at the beginning of the 2024-2025 season, not in the 2025 offseason.

How to offer players credited to SchlenkSystem
Budget
As said, the salary cap has been abolished. Instead, teams will receive 10 coins per open roster spot they have. So if you have 10 players on your roster, you’d have 50 coins to spend. THERE IS NO MAXIMUM AMOUNT OF COINS YOU CAN OFFER A PLAYER. When you sign a player, the coins not in the first year of the contract will not be taken out of your balance the next years. So to summarize, the more players you have under contract come free agency, the less money you have to spend. Since there is no salary cap, contracts are essentially just years.
ALL ACTUAL CURRENT NBA CONTRACTS ARE STILL IN EFFECT. CONTRACTS AND EXTENSIONS SIGNED THIS OFFSEASON ARE NOT IN EFFECT. So for example, Daniel Gafford will be a free agent in the 2026 Offseaon, not the 2030 Offseaon.
How to Offer Players
# of years, # of coins per year (the per year rate will be how much is taken out of your coin balance, not the total in a contract)

Free Agent Decision
Please include a short summary of why the player should sign with your team. Players will most likely sign with the team that offers them the most coins, but if there is a tie, the GM who best convinced the free agent will get that player. After the set free agency period ends, all remaining players will be first come first serve.
Team and Player Options
All team options will be accepted unless you ask for one to be declined.
Player options will be decided by the players in the sim.
Extensions
YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO EXTEND YOUR PLAYERS. All players will enter free agency when their contract is over.
Draft
The draft is exactly the same as it usually is with the lottery, but with the fantasy draft and all picks being returned, the teams will probably look a little different.
2K only has each team's picks up until 2029. The mock will not go longer than that anyway. PLEASE DO NOT TRADE PICKS PAST 2029.
Schedule
This schedule will start as soon as all 30 teams have a GM.

Teams and GMs
If you do not create a roster post, you will be disqualified and your spot will be taken. I only am doing this since all of the NBA teams are completely different than usual, and it will be hard to track the teams' players without a roster post.
When you create the roster post, I will link on top of your team on the main mock post.
When you comment what team you want, I'll respond with a link to a hidden post with your roster that you can copy when you make your roster.
REMEMBER, EVERY TEAM HAS ALL OF THEIR DRAFT PICKS FROM 2025-2029.
