Luka Doncic has been traded to the Hawks along with Maxi Kleber for Trae Young, John Collins, Jarrett Culver and the 2023 FRP (unprotected Hawks) and 2025 Heat (unprotected). The Mavericks weren't able to win with Luka, because in the NBA you need more then one player. Even the Warriors had Andrew Wiggins, who was a great second player for their defense. Although the Mavs have great depth, it was ultimately time to move on. Getting Trae Young is big, in being the close-to-luka elite player. Additionally, John Collins should make a big impact as well. Jarrett Culver has potential and hopefully he can unlock it to being a very good role player.
