Morey has been asking for more unprotected first round picks than the Clippers have and Terance Mann in exchange for James Harden. Originally the Clippers were including one protected first and no Mann. Now they've beefed up their offer to one unprotected first and 2029 pick swap and are looking to beef their offer up more.
The Bulls and Heat both are actively involved in talks for Harden, too. And the Knicks and Raptors are still contemplating getting involved. This could still turn into a bidding war, yet.
Teams know they need to make a deal before opening night so that Harden retains his non-bird rights. If they don't, Harden will walk in free agency and the trade will only be a rental and Harden will be unhappy this season.
