Mann is an ideal replacement as a true wing for Buddy Hield. Adding additional veteran front court presence in RoCo who plays much better in less intense environments, will help the Pacers. Korkmaz has been a player that the Pacers front office has had an eye on because they believe he's been poorly utilized by the Sixers. They also get an unprotected first while only sending out Nesmith with Hield who's getting pushed down in their depth chart shuffle.

Morey has been asking for 4 unprotected first round picks or an elite player in return for Harden. Originally the Clippers were including one protected first and no Mann. Then recently they beefed up their offer to one unprotected first and 2029 pick swap. They know that's not enough, but have been trying to squeeze the Sixers. They know that a straight trade will need to involve 2 firsts, a swap, and Mann with expiring contracts. By involving the Pacers they avoid sending out a pick swap.

This is a no brainer for the Clippers who get a top 15 point guard, fill their starting PF hole, and get additional depth with House who played well in the playoffs for the Sixers and has great chemistry with Harden and PJ. This trade makes them an instant championship contender.

The Bulls, Heat, Knicks, and Raptors are still contemplating getting involved. This could still turn into a bidding war, yet. The Clippers making a legitimate offer now saves them from overpaying in a bidding war later.

For the Sixers, most people know by now that they only want expiring contracts in return, or at least no more value coming in future years than going out. In this trade, they get all expiring contracts. They don't get the elite player they're seeking, but get Hield who they could potentially flip with firsts for an elite player. Batum is underrated addition who could start, Mook provides a 3 level scorer who can add enforcer protection for Embiid, and Nesmith is a depth piece.

Teams know they need to make a deal before opening night so that Harden retains his non-bird rights. If they don't, Harden will walk in free agency and the trade will only be a rental and Harden will be unhappy this season. This is why the Sixers have leverage leading up to roster cut-down day.
