Wizards have openly said they're open to trading the pick. Why don't they trade down to get Acuff, MPJ and more picks for their rebuild? Trae may work in Washington, but there's always a chance he doesn't extend in DC. It would be pretty wise to trade him now while the question still looms.
As for the Nets, they've been itching to get their franchise piece of the future for some time now, someone they can build around and start fresh. That's AJ. Plus, it would certainly help his career to be in a big market, which can attract a lot more free agents to play with him. Yes, it would be forfeiting a lot of picks, but I'm convinced it would be well worth it in the long run. And with someone like Trae to run the offence and get AJ the ball, it seems like a perfect fit to me.
