Nets Land Bradley Beal
Nets Receive:
Bradley Beal
The Nets have already sunk a lot of draft capital into a player who won’t carry their franchise. The Nets sent the Houston Rockets three first-round picks and four pick swaps in exchange for James Harden, and he’s a Philadelphia 76er. With that in mind, the Nets won’t benefit from tanking unless they make a trade with the Rockets. If they insist on staying competitive, this is a good deal. It has them landing their best offensive player and getting off of Simmons’ contract in the same move.

Pick No. 21
Three First-Round Picks
For starters, the Wizards probably won’t retain Porzingis if they’re doing this deal. They’ll be rebuilding. More broadly, nobody should be assuming that Simmons will look like an NBA starter again in his career. That’s not the point here. The Wizards do this deal to land four first-round picks for Beal. They won’t find that opportunity unless they’re absorbing a contract like Simmons’.
