Plus a rant for my fellow nuggets fans. Now whether the bulls look to trade Giddey or not, who knows. But for Jamal Murray coming off an all star season plus Denver’s first round pick in the next draft I’m sure they could entice some teams. It’s time for the nuggets to move on from Jamal. This core has run its course and looks slow and careless. And that’ll only look worse as they get older. Maybe Peyton Watson or Christian Braun could be squeezed in here with Chicago adding Tre Jones or something else could be figured out but this is just the general idea.
Getting Giddey, a real point guard, plus Smith who can replace Gordon when he’s injured or needs a break is a huge step in the right direction of getting younger and more durable in their core spots. The next priority should be moving off of Christian Braun. He simply should not be the starting SG on a championship roster. Having a SG rotation of Christian Braun and Bruce brown, two guys who can’t shoot, is not going to win you a championship. It’s time for Denver’s higher ups to take a long look in the mirror and realize they’re running a business, not a family charity to keep clinging onto homegrown players.
If Denver wants to ever improve and stop banging their heads against the wall year after year then they’ve gotta realize it doesn’t matter who you throw on the bench or who you add to the roster when your core is still the same. Jamal is just going to be inconsistent and unreliable all year, year after year and this team is going to be a perennial first or second round exit every season. Jamal is still going to shoot you out of games while being completely useless in every other facet of the game. Hes still going to walk up and down the floor pouting when he’s not scoring and he’s still going to ice everyone out so he can take 30 shots a game, even if he goes 3/30. He’s still going to be hunted all game on defense by every single team we play against. Hes still going to throw lazy, sloppy passes that always turn into 2 points for the other team. It’s time to move on and his value will never be any higher than it will be next offseason.
