Lakers get their center. You can’t ask for much more than Claxton for Reaves and Rui. Or Reaves and Vando. While giving up zero picks.
Nets become an instant playoff team, especially being in the east. They would have probably a top 5-6 seed while holding on to all their picks to make more moves to shape up the roster or draft accordingly. They would be set for the “now” and the future. Nets would also still have 100mil in cap space after this trade. They could sign or trade for anybody they desire and build a very good roster from top to bottom. Everyone they’re acquiring is 26 and under besides Jamal who’s 28. So Brooklyn could still go for a young timeline while having great building pieces. Russ would just be the veteran presence.
Nuggets gut their roster to create cap space and focus on defense/shooting to surround Jokic. They get their immediate Murray and MPJ replacements in Cam Thomas and Cam Johnson. Bruce Brown would take Christian Brauns spot. Then the bench would be absolutely loaded. They could make all the small signings but they also clear up enough cap space to throw a bag at top free agents like NAW, Grimes, Giddey, etc. They could offer one or two of them contracts that their current teams could simply not match or don’t want to match. I can’t picture Minnesota or Philly throwing 25-30mil to NAW or Grimes but Denver could if they simply wanted to.
A starting lineup of Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, NAW, Aaron Gordon and Nikola Jokic would be miles ahead of what they currently have. Even without NAW, Bruce would still be great. With Rui, Caris LaVert, Dennis Schroder, Ziaire Williams, Day’Ron Sharpe, and Santi Aldama all on the bench. Or variants of those players. There are plenty of other free agents this offseason. Denver with that cap space would be able to bolster their bench easily, even if it’s not these specific players.
