Trade is just a Mathurin for Missi and Jose swap.

Since the Pacers: 1) have been linked to young athletic centers, and even Missi himself, and 2) face a possible cap problem in the future with so many young pieces, I think this trade addresses their concerns.

When Nesmith's extension kicks in (2027-28) the Pacers will have 4 guys making 20 mil+, and that is not counting any possible Jarace Walker or Ben Sheppard extensions which would kick in at the same time. I've seen some say that Mathurin is the odd man out there and may have to be let go either via trade or RFA this summer.

Missi is a really high-energy young big who can run, dunk, and block shots at a nice level. Obviously still really young so lots of room to grow. Seems to me like a good long-term option at the 5 next to Haliburton who won't break the bank. Jose is just in there as salary filler and can be kept as another bench piece or rerouted elsewhere.
