Keon Ellis hasn't had the greatest year this season. But I personally contribute that to being on an odd Kings roster. Where he can't find consistent minutes, or a rythem. He shot around 40% a year ago. Even though he is down to 34% this season. As well as his defensive rating has dropped off. But when he was playing more. He once had a defensive rating of 108. in his rookie season. I feel he can get back to being that player.
Jalen Smith has been a huge + in the defensive net rating. A +7.8 with him and Vuc together. A +6.8 without Vuc on the floor.. and Vuc without Jalen Smith is about a -6.9.. So it goes to show how much better the Bulls have been with Jalen Smith on the floor. He also does a little of everything. From stretching the floor and a good %, to boxing out well. At 8 to 10 rebs a game in about 20 mins. As well as he's a huslte player who will rotate and has switchability on Defense.. He also already knows the Pacers system. Btw, as nice as it would be to have a young Yves Missi. His defensive rating is a 118.9.. Teams have been running through him. I believe that will drastically improve. But I feel Missi is an offseason move. Pacers trade Mathurin, they need to weigh all options and make sure to get the best of that trade. As well as the draft capital to go with it.
What are your thoughts on the Pacers trading for Keon Ellis and Jalen Smith? I also believe they need to lock in a couple 2nds for this coming draft to get a couple bigs. Whether that's Flory Bidunga, Baba Miller, Donnie Freeman, Motiejus Krivas, Eric Reibe or Moustapha Thiam. I believe those will be their 2nd round options. If they'd want a Chris Cenac Jr., or a Henri Veesaar. They'd have to trade into the 1st round. I'd also look at a Brayden Burries, or Meleek Thomas. If they get a big before the deadline.
