If I-Jax and Wiseman don't prove to be themselves after these achilles injuries. Especially if I-Jax doesn't have the previous athleticism he had once before on a nightly basis. It may be best to move on and look elsewhere to solidify the backup C position asap. Another C they could look to acquire is Day'Ron Sharpe, or possibly Nick Richards. However, the Pacers would be better off to get Jalen Smith and or Day'Ron. Then simply look to sign Nick Richards outright in FA.
The trade for Jamal Shead would be another great young PG the Pacers could add to this roster. Shead though small,he's a defensive menace. Who has a very high basketball I.Q and is also a vocal leader on/off the court. Which his teammates have always loved about him. He would be the perfect young player to eventually step into that TJ McConnell role, as TJ is getting older.
As much as I love I-Jax and hope I-Jax works out. The Pacers could still find a way to add a C if they decided to keep I-Jax. But either way, I'd love this trade for the Pacers.
The Pacers would then have the backup C and backup PG role solidified going into the next season when Haliburton will be set to return. They'd then be looking to add a starting caliber C, or a Nick Richards type in FA. As well as hopefully a lottery selection in this year's draft.
I'd love for it to be AJ Dybansta!🤞 lol
If we could get a group of guy's like that and resign Mathurin. We'd be set to make another championship run. If for some reason they decided to trade Mathurin, hopefully it will be for no less than a Jaden Ivey type, a Keegan Murray, or Brandon Miller type of player.
What do you all think about a trade like this?
I know it's not a legal trade until later this season.
