WHY DETROIT
I think Ja Morant is due for a new scenery. I also think that he needs a place that is a brotherhood, gritty, but also has a level of maturity at the top. In this scenario, there are a few factors that I consider. The first is that Cade Cunningham is the bona fide leader of the Pistons. Ja Morant, at one point, was at the heights that Cade was, and he could easily return. Cade Cunningham isn't prideful and would want to see Ja Morant eat. Along with Cade is an underrated factor, not only would Jaden Ivey become a truly solid bench piece coming in to reserve Cade/Ja, but he is very close with Ja Morant. Ja Morant sees Jaden Ivey (a supremely positive and sacrificial player)as an actual brother. They grew close because of Jaden Ivey's mom coaching him.
Now let's insert the two enforcers, Jalen Duren and Isiah Stewart. They both would keep things in check, but they aren't soft to the point where they'd expect Ja to be soft. Above all else, I believe a coach like J.B. Bickerstaff can truly coach Ja and bring him back to life. In my opinion, the environment surrounding the Pistons fits Ja very well. He doesn't have to soften and it'd be safe to mature.
My starting lineup for them? Ja Morant, Cade Cunningham, Ausar Thompson, Isaiah Stewart, Jalen Duren
Alternate lineup? Ja Morant, Cade Cunningham, Duncan Robinson, Ausar Thompson, Jalen Duren (adds a little more shooting)
