Pistons balance their roster and are able to add Jerami Grant as their backup PF, sliding him into a 6-man type of role. He can fill the gap when Tobias misses time and Detroit doesn’t lose much to land him. They also create a roster spot in doing this so they can sign Jenkins to a standard NBA contract. Rupert is included as an end of the bench type of wing that Langdon likes to take chances on. Landing Grant’s contract also makes it more possible to make a massive move when the time is right in the next season or two when his contract is near expiring.
Starters: Cade, Robinson, Ausar, Tobias, Duren
Bench: Jenkins, Sasser, Holland, Grant, Stewart, Green
Reserves: Reed, Rupert, Lanier, Klintman
Trailblazers take a chance on Ivey and see if he could fit into their longer term rotation. Pairing him with ball dominant PGs like Lillard, Jrue, or Scoot AND great defensive wings could unlock Ivey’s potential as a slasher off the bench to come in and put up 15 as a 6-man type of role player. They also, most importantly, get off of Grant’s contract to be more flexible next offseason.
