If Detroit can’t get a deal done with Duren, expect him to land in Sacramento and Sabonis heading somewhere else. That somewhere else could be Brooklyn to pair up with Julius Randle and some young talent.

Detroit makes this deal because they bring back a true 7-footer who can space the floor, a solid backup/rotational PF, and their new #2 option who can shoot the lights out. They also keep the rest of their young core in tact and give Ron Holland another year to develop. Detroit retains one of the deepest rosters and is very well positioned for a deep playoff run, while set up strongly for the future. If they can extend MPJ on a deal in the $30M range, this team would have the financial flexibility for even more!
