Detroit has shown that they need a 2nd scoring option and more shooting. Why not the guy who is putting up 26 PPG and a career 40% 3 PT shooter (on over 6 attempts per game)?
Add a sharp shooting forward ✅
Solve the Dannis Jenkins problem ✅
Keep the core together ✅
Tobias is on an expiring deal, Ivey is likely gone this offseason, and Detroit can grab the missing piece to their rotation with a sharp shooting forward without giving up a core young guy OR any future 1sts. Duncan Robinson has proved that this team NEEDS more spacing on the floor at all times. You can stagger MPJ and Robinson to keep a threat outside on the floor at all times while still having the ability to go with defensive lineups too. This also solves the Dannis Jenkins problem and rewards him with a roster spot as the backup PG.
The Nets take a swing on Ivey, load up on future 2nds, and clear more of their books for this upcoming offseason to be able to spend big on whoever they want. Nets would be in an incredible position to land another top 10 draft pick, sign a Max contract, AND have enough cap to bring in 2-3 quality vets. Maybe they look to package a few 2nds to get another 1st round pick or take on more bad contracts to load up more picks too…
