Timberwolves have been known to be looking for a new PG to pair with Ant. Ja’s stock is at an all time low and they could be getting a potential All Star player without giving up too much in terms of assets. The big loss is Naz Reid, while Ja replaces DiVencenzo, and they use Conley’s expiring contract to match salaries. They land Paul Reed and Landale as their backup big men to replace Reid’s minutes while upgrading their starting PG and keeping Randle and McDaniels together.
Grizzlies shop Ja for whatever they can find. They end up bringing in 3 guards who are all on cheap/expiring deals so they can see what they have/need next offseason. They also don’t lose any of their assets and bring in a future 2nd.
Detroit finds its new starting PF and a 3rd big man to replace Paul Reed. This move brings in a solid starter for two bench players and a couple 2nds and allows the team to sign Jenkins to an NBA minimum. Reid brings more shooting and defense than Tobias Harris, while they get to keep their young core together.
This is the type of move that Detroit could make that may or may not be the difference in reaching the NBA finals.
