The Raptors have made some strong moves to position themselves as a contender this year, BUT, they still need a starting Center. Why not make and all in move for Duren? The Raptors have the necessary depth on the wing and really just need 2 guys to run the PG spot (Walter, Shead, KPJ) while their 2-4 wings of Barnes, Kawhi, Barrett, Murray-Broyles, and Graves takes them deep in the playoffs. They also add Chaz Lanier as a throw in to make the money work. Why not push your chips ALL the way in?
Detroit needs to figure out their starting Center spot without paying Duren over $35M and also adding a true secondary creator. Here they bring in Myles Turner to help with the spacing and defensive issues and Quickley serves as the new #2 creator who can get his own bucket from time to time. Detroit also swaps Duncan Robinson for AJ Green to make the money work AND picks up a future 1st for trading two of their young assets in Duren and Holland.
Cade, Quickley, Ausar, Collins, Turner // Jenkins, Joe, AJ Green, Javonte Green, Reed, Okorie, Huerter, Prince
On the surface, this doesn’t make sense for Milwaukee. However, when you look at it player for player, it might just work. Milwaukee swaps AJ Green for Robinson who is effectively on an expiring deal. They swap their backup Center in Turner for Poeltl, who is worse but cheaper. Then they swap KPJ (who won’t get nearly as many minutes with their new backcourt of Rollins, Herro, Burries, and Jakucionis) for Holland. Holland can serve as their F backup to Jaquez and Ament. They also add a pick swap and a future 2nd for their troubles. This balances their roster even more while opening more PT for their young core.
