Why Pistons
Pistons need a player like Randle who can stretch the floor. He is a great pairing next to Duren and also fits the culture of Detroit similarly to Stew as an enforcer type. The big thing here is also getting their draft rights back for future drafts. With the cap space that the Pistons would still have (more than 50 million) the Pistons could do quite a few things. By having their future picks from 2025 and beyond and young tradeable players they could follow up by pursuing Dejounte Murray, Lauri Markkanen, or anyone else who becomes available.
WHY KNICKS
The asking price for Anunoby is rumored to be around 35-40 million. Harstein is rumored to want around 25 million. The Knicks will have to go into the luxary to resign these two. To create cap space to use before doing so and also adding a lottery pick can help them in moving on from Randle and remaining contenders. The Knicks would still have a slew of picks to trade.
Imagine if they traded Mitchell Robinson, Bogdanovich, and 3 future firsts (let's say an unprotected, a lottery protected, and a swap) for Brandon Ingram and went forward with a tandom of Brunson, DiVincenzo, Ingram, Anunoby, Hartstein while having a top 5 player in this year's draft to potentially come off of the bench.
I'm just saying, with this trade they'd have a ton of options while maintaining or even increasing depth and creating a team that could definitely keep up with the defending champion Celtics.
