Pistons get DiVincenzo + 2 picks to add a starter and draft assets, Wolves get Ivey to add a scorer and ball-handler.

Why would each team do this?

Pistons: Detroit doesn’t need to trade Jaden Ivey, but they could listen if a strong offer comes along. Donte DiVincenzo gives them a clear short term boost as a starter—more dynamic, versatile, and reliable than Duncan Robinson, with added shot creation and solid perimeter defense. The included draft picks provide future flexibility, especially for roster moves or packaging assets later. While Detroit could ask for a first-round pick in certain scenarios, DiVincenzo’s current value makes the trade balanced from their perspective.

Timberwolves: Minnesota gets a high upside guard at a fair cost. Ivey, a former top-five pick, still has major growth potential and flashes All-Star level talent if his game fully clicks. In Detroit, he’s looked best when operating as a primary ball-handler, and the Wolves can give him that role again. Minnesota adds a young scoring guard who could become a long-term core piece without hurting their future flexibility.
