WHY MAGIC
Shooting for the stars going with Jalen Suggs, Jimmy Butler, Franz Wagner, Paulo Bancher, and Johnathan Issac (or Carter or Mo Magner) as a starting lineup. This team can be quite competitive for a ECFs birth and they have enough ammo in picks to modify this team even more to however they see fit. This would be a win now move for sure. On top of that Jimmy stays in Florida, which I am sure would make him very happy.
WHY HEAT
I’m not sure that the market for Jimmy at his age is as strong as they’d hope. In this trade they get a young talented player who actually would pair very well with Tyler Herro on the wing. They also get a two-way veteran shooter in KCP and a solid role player in Fontecchio along with severe cap relief and a few second rounders. I seriously don’t see them getting much of a better deal than this. They may be able to squeeze a late 1st out of a different team that is in contention for a championship but this trade nets them a young player. They move Jimmy and allow other guys like Highsmith to continue to develop. The Heat would remain competitive here.
Starting lineup could be something Anthony Black, Tyler Herro, KCP, Bam, Ware as they retool for the future. I’d expect Highsmith to eventually work his way into being a starter over KCP.
WHY DETROIT
Detroit moves a vet at a position they are full at for a veteran big and eat the contract of a veteran guard in Gary Harris. Bitadze is the real reason the Pistons hope on this trade and help make the numbers work. With only one adequately sized center, having a 6’11 center who can score in the paint and plays good defense could go along way. It’s a small move but could prove to be a great one in my opinion.
