Ok so ScottieB4DPOY requested that when I hit top 50 i write an article on why Scottie Barnes is a better player then Chet Holmgren. To all the thunder fans please don’t hunt me down I promise that I’m innocent and I still haven’t watched every snap from Shemar James in a cowboys jersey.

So you see In the debate over the current NBA, few head to head comparisons are as cool as Scottie Barnes vs Chet Holmgren. Because on one hand you can Scottie is better and on the other hand you can say Chet is better😭😭😂😂. Both stand as living and breathing examples of humans with perimeter skill sets, high basketball IQs, and modern defensive tools.
However, while Holmgren’s elite rim protection and perimeter shooting make him a dream center for modern spacing and uhh whatever you wanna say, Scottie Barnes remains the superior overall player. Like trust guys. When you look at efficiency and examine how they look and stuff and well playmaking creation, physical durability, and statistical impact. Toronto's franchise star holds a uhhhh teeny tiny gigantic edge😭.
Now a difference between Barnes and Holmgren is their role within their respective franchises:
Scottie Barnes: Barnes is tasked with being the engine of the Toronto Raptors. Opposing defensive game plans are built specifically to slow him down, force him into tough decisions, and double team his drives. Despite this attention, he consistently produces as a scorer, primary playmaker, and glass-cleaner.
Chet Holmgren: Holmgren operates in an ideal ecosystem alongside an MVP caliber guard in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and a deep Oklahoma City Thunder roster. Holmgren rarely has to create his own offense out of nothing, benefiting from wide-open lanes and favorable matchups (I think😭)
Carrying a franchise as a primary option is a vastly harder job than thriving as a secondary or tertiary option, a test Barnes has already proven he can handle. And to all of yall other people who think Brandon Ingram was there best player well hear this

Alrighty anyways thats not really a big reason so let’s get into an actual reason
So yeah Chet Holmgren is an elite, classic rim protector who excels at helping off the weak side and altering shots at the basket. However Scottie Barnes offers rare, true 1 through 5 defensive versatility. Barnes possesses the raw strength to body up heavy post players, the foot speed to slide with perimeter guards, and the length to disrupt passing lanes. He can be assigned to guard a team's best player regardless of position and than on the other hand Chet can occasionally get target switched by elite perimeter scorers or bullied by physical centers.
Barnes stands at 6'7 (i think unless the image earlier is outdated), 237 pounds with a 7'2 wingspan and a heavy, muscular build. He uses his frame to absorb contact, punish smaller defenders in the mid post, and initiate physical play. Barnes strength allows him to battle in heavy traffic for contested rebounds and high contact paint points. Chet's lighter frame makes him more vulnerable to getting pushed around down low by physical, traditional bigs.
While both rack up rebounds, Barnes is a dominant offensive glass cleaner who routinely creates extra possessions for his team out of just effort and strength. Upon grabbing a defensive board, Barnes can instantly push the ball himself on a fast break, cutting out the middleman and keeping defenses flat footed.
Barnes has demonstrated that he can be the lead star and centerpiece of a franchise (evidenced by his Rookie of the Year win, All-Star selection, and high-usage role in Toronto).
