Raptors:
They need a starting big man that can lock down the paint, Ayton fills that void
FVV doesn’t work in their switch-heavy defensive scheme and Fred will need to be shipped out for the long-and-tall experiment to take the next step in Toronto.
Scottie works on his handle and develops a mediocre pull up game so he can take over the PG spot
Bringing back Powell gives a bench scoring option they missed last year who can also fill backup PG minutes
The addition of 2 seconds next year, a 2027 pick swap, and 2028 1st outright helps to dampen the pain of losing FVV for just Powell in the short term
Starters: Scottie, GTJ, Siakam, Crowder/Achiuwa, Ayton (Key Reserves: Crowder/Achiuwa, Powell)
Suns:
They don’t want to handcuff themselves to Ayton for the foreseeable future, so he will inevitably be moved at a discount to his value unless they let him walk for free next season
A return led by OG gives the team an elite wing defender to address the Luka-Kawhi-LeBron hurdle that is the main impediment to them reaching the finals outside Golden State (Sorry Nuggets/Grizzlies fans)
Birch with McGee offer a reasonable Center tandem, but some additional reinforcements may be needed from outside this trade
A mid-second round pick this year, and the Raps 1st next year sweetens the deal enough for the team that gains the least from this trade (but possibly the best player)
Starters: CP3-Booker-Bridges-OG-McGee (Key Reserves: Johnson, Payne, Shamet)
Clippers:
This is simple - the Clippers need to win now. It’s hard to bet on more than 1 more fully healthy season from both Kawhi and PG while they’re under contract, and the Clippers have shown they’ll do what it takes to get there
PG is the biggest need for this team. Reggie Jackson is not the starting PG on a championship team, whereas FVV already has been, and with Kawhi. Reggie Jackson becomes a very strong backup PG.
Starters: FVV-Batum/Kennard-PG-Kawhi-Zubac (Key Reserves: Braun/Kennard, Jackson, Covington, Morris, Coffey)
