Raptors were 25th last year in offensive rating and also were one of the worst ranked teams in terms of shot quality. Obviously a healthy roster will improve this, but what about adding an offensive star in LaMelo Ball? The Raptors are already deep on the wings, and though giving up the 9th pick hurts, potentially underpaying for LaMelo could be the move they need, plus he's only 23 which would match the teams timeline. The 2026 pick is lottery protected and would become two seconds if not conveyed. The 2028 pick is lightly protected to avoid the worst case scenario.

Though the Hornets and LaMelo have pushed back against these rumours, they have yet to see much success and LaMelo always seems to be injured. Getting some solid assets to set the team on another direction could be the move they need to spark some new life.
