Memphis would have really good depth, and get off a toxic player in Ja, while still kind of contending. They would start Ty Jerome at point guard, and have one of the best benches in the nba.
The Raptors don’t trade IQ for Ja like the other offers I’ve seen, because then their frontcourt would be one of the worst defensively, (and they can’t shoot) besides the new Wizards, who have Trae Young and Tre Johnson, which is a horrendous defensively frontcourt. But anyway, they run IQ at the 2, because he can shoot and Ja can’t, and take a flyer on such a toxic player, and try to contend. They also get under the tax, and get a backup big who can shoot the ball well, and has really broken out this season.
Reasons why each team says yes: Memphis says yes because they won’t be able to get any other offers for such a toxic players, and they won’t be able to get any FRPS for him, similarly to the Trae Young trade, and they get really good depth, and a highly picked lottery rookie such as Collin Murray-Boyles, who is blossoming, adding to their young talent with Jaylen Wells and Cedric Coward. The Raptors say yes to buy low on a former all star to add to their offense, which is currently lacking, and gamble on a diva lead guard.
