(This trade works this off-season, as Gradey had his team option taken at 7 million) Bobby Webster, the genius that he is, decided to sign a 7ft 30y/o center to a 19m team option + three years at 28m. I like Poeltl, and I think his value will definitely go up next year, but I think the same could be said for Turner. Both players are older centers on long-term deals that have had one of their worst seasons in a long time. For the Raptors: They upgrade at center, getting a talented stretch big in Turner. They also get more future cap flexibility, as I think just about every team in the league is wary of that Poeltl contract. For the Bucks: They tanked this year, surely they're going to trade Giannis and tank harder next year. They don't have much need for Turner then, so at least they can take a flier on Poeltl and Dick, both players who've had a down year and will likely rebound in production with more minutes and a change of scenery. And of course, getting a first and second in the nearest draft is great. Given they got Turner in free agency, this seems like a pretty good flip for them, even if they have to eat the Poeltl contract for a while before they can flip him too. Let me know what you think!
