This is what the Raptors really need to do

SUCCESS

In the midst of all these trade talks, I still find it unreasonable to go after Ja Morant. He hasn’t shown he can stay on the court the past few years, and even when he can he will be a disaster of a fit on the Raptors as presently constructed.

Now there are news floating around that the Heat would be interested in potentially acquiring Ja Morant. Another news also dropped that unlike Atlanta, Memphis does not mind taking on bad contracts if it means they can get young players and draft capital.

In this trade the Raptors capitalize on the situation, by sending out IQ and getting out of his terrible contract. You have to attach the 2026 1st round pick in this deal to entice Miami, as I believe Tyler Herro’s value is still higher than Ja’s despite his own injury struggles throughout the years. Simone is also an underrated pick up in this deal, as the Raptors can desperately use an elite shooter off the bench with some size.

Gradey and Mogbo along with those 2nds are possibly the best young players + draft compensation package any team in the league would be willing to offer to Memphis.

Miami gets a chance to rehabilitate Ja and potentially have an MVP candidate on their hand. Also with the play of Norman Powell, Herro’s shotmaking becomes a redundancy in Miami.
