The Hawks might be going for a Center in the draft and if they are, it would make sense to trade down to acquire assets and pick a Center at a reasonable spot (pick 19) whether it be Hannes Steinbach, Morez Johnson Jr., or if they get very lucky, even Aday Mara. The Raptors have worked out Mikel Brown Jr., someone way out of their range, this could mean a potential trade up in the draft. The Hawks do this because they would be getting value back in exchange for their pick. While Poeltl is on a terrible contract, Corey Kispert is also on a bad one and taking Corey Kispert for Jakob Poeltl and a first cancels out I would say. And then the 8 pick for another first and Ja’Kobe Walter who has been an amazing 3 point shooter and is an incredible perimeter defender with some fun explosive athleticism. Maybe the Raptors need to send a little more.
