Why Every Team Does This.

Raptors: Toronto is heading in the direction of a re-tool or rebuild around Scottie Barnes after trading O.G. Anunoby. The Anunoby trade provided the Raps with great young players; Immanuel Quickly and R.J. Barett. Now they have one more player on an expiring contract, Pascal Siakam. This trade sends Siakam to Philadelphia in exchange for 2 expiring contracts; Kyle Lowry and Marcus Morris along with 3 FRP. This gives Toronto 3 picks to either use in the draft or trade for a star player. The expiring contracts extend Toronto's cap space which they could use to add more depth to their roster. The previous Anunoby trade provided them with young talent, not picks and this trade provided them with the missing picks in the Anunoby deal. Plus this gives the chance for long-time Raptor; Kyle Lowry to retire as a Raptor.

76ers: Philidelphia has been very good since trading James Harden but to improve their team, they need a 3rd star next to Embiid and Maxey. Enter Pascal Siakam! Siakam is a perfect second or third option on a very solid 76ers team next to Embiid and Maxey. He also gets to reunite with his previous head coach, Nick Nurse. If the 76ers make this move, it can solidify them as title contenders. If you're worrying about the off-season, don't worry as the 76ers will have tons of cap space so they could either bring Siakam and Maxey back or bring 2 new max contracts in.

Heat The Heat's historic run to the finals was impressive but they lack frontcourt depth. They don't have a true PF. Tobias Harris can be a placeholder for the season to fill in that missing role. All the team gets out is bad contracts and one FRP. The team could bring him back on a smaller contract. This could help Miami make it to the finals again.
