This trade makes sense for BOTH teams.
Raptors need a rebuild and as much as I love OG he deserves to be on a contending team. OKC has too many picks in the next few years. They can afford to give up GOOD picks. I know raps fans want 3 picks for OG but trust me, OKC has much higher value picks than most teams and I think quality is important.
OKC have a Giddy issue. It might seem "minor" but trust me OKC as a team are quickly ageing out of their love of Giddy. To be serious though, Giddy's spacing is holding this offense back. So often Giddy's defender is crowding the paint when Shai slashes. Giddy needs to essentially be a back up pg and ride the bench as a 6 man type where he can have the ball in his hands more. I'd love to start Cason Wallace or Isiah Joe but it would make for a very small starting lineup especially when you factor in Chet's slender frame.
OG is a perfect fit. His shooting is a huge spacing improvement over Giddy. OG's strength and size will also help when they play bruiser players that Chet might struggle against. I'm thinking LBJ and Zion in the western conference. Hell I've seen OG do as good a job as anyone vs Jokic in the past.
This trade works for both teams and as a fan of the Raps i'd be happy to watch OG compete while we rebuild with quality picks.
