I dont think the Raptors do this deal. They dont really strike me as a team that deals in bad contracts. However, I dont think they do much else with Charlotte as Raps have a lot of guard/wing depth they need to develop and I think the Hornets covet Nick Richards with all the injuries to Mark Williams. They would get what is hopefully a high second in 2027 and a valuable Clippers 2nd swap in 2028.

Grant had a season ending injury and is owed 2 more years afterwards. There's no guarantee he can recoup his value as an asset or that he can help when he's healthy again, as I assume the Raptors would want to be competitive sooner than later. At worst, he's another expiring in 2027

The Hornets likely want to get off the money so they can get under the cap and take contracts for picks again and likely wont give up a first

The Raptors are unlikely to do nothing at the trade deadline. They're probably going to make use of Bruce Brown's expiring deal in 1 of 2 ways

• 1 Sellers: Get value for Bruce as a player

• 2A/2B Buyers: Add value to his expiring deal to acquire a player (Poeltl trade) OR to acquire financial flexibility (Thad Young trade)

I've been thinking about this with every team and this is just for me to visualize it and do a fun exercise.
