For the Raps, this would create an absolutely disgusting defense for the Toronto Raptors, as well as massively improving the playmaking and three point shooting by keeping the ball out of Quickley's hands and moving him to SG. Grabbing Jrue at the cost of RJ and late first makes sense.

For Portland, you get one of your 100 guards off books. Jrue doesn't fit their timeline at all, so it makes sense to move him in favour of the younger guards. In return, they improve at forward, a big area of need, with PJ. They also get a first and a second (and Naji). Not bad for a 36yo guard.

For Dallas, you get a starting SG in RJ. He's a solid slasher and offensive weapon who'd fit nicely in Dallas. Whilst losing PJ is a bit of a blow, Santi Aldama and Morez need minutes, so this just frees up space for them. A future second and Naji are afterthoughts. So, overall, a swap of PJ for RJ makes a lot of sense for their team.
