A trade this late before the start of the regular season is rare. But there is a clear need and issue for both the Raptors and Blazers. The Blazers need a forward besides Grant to establish defense, length, and someone who can balance out their future. That’s where OG comes in. The perfect piece to Scoot, Sharpe, Grant, and Ayton. Thats something you can build around and truly compete with within a year. Thad gets thrown into even up salaries and a vet leadership which Portland needs.

For Toronto. The Raps still lack guards on this team and balance. Scottie Barnes and Pascal look great so far and I don’t think that will stop. Except for a player like OG taking their touches role wise away. Simons would be the perfect PG and complimentary piece to them. A starting 5 of Anfernee, Gary, Pascal, Scottie, and Jakob would be criminally underrated and would benefit so much from Darko’s .5 style offense . Still have a bench of Schroeder, Gradey, Flynn, Boucher, Precious, McDaniels, Koloko, Porter Jr, and whomever fills out the last two spots. If they want Scottie to take that true step forward OG is probably on the way out. Get this team a real point guard and they will be a lot better and will be very competitive in the east.

No need for picks to be dealt. Both players fill the needs of both teams. And I’m sure OG would get his bag from Portland. Let’s be real as well. Scoot and Sharpe will be ball dominant. Simons on that contract isn’t a 6th man and shipping him out would be best for them to let both grow as guards and find their rhythm in this league. I doubt anything like this happens. Maybe not now but deadline it could. As a Raptors fan and someone who likes what the Blazers are building this is a no brainer. Makes the future of the Blazers even more scary and makes the Raptors dark horse, competitive team coming out of the east.
