Houston, do we have a problem?

SUCCESS

Why Houston says yes: They give up no draft capital and are just swapping Phoenix 2025 for the NYK 2025, and are giving Brooklyn control of their 2027 back, while still retaining their 2027.

Whitmore is the odd man out in Houston as they are victims of their own success in drafting well. They do not have the time or patience to develop him and both sides seem frustrated. Jabari seems to, if not regressed, at least plateaued. Houston will have tough decisions on whom to extend and I don't think Jabari is playing well enough to warrant an large extension, which he will demand. Londale is an expiring.

CamJ is an upgrade over Smith in every single facet, will fit in seamlessly, takes nothing off the table and has proven playoff and finals experience. Also, great descending contract is only 28 (Butler is 35 for example) and an amazing teammates and professional. Sharpe adds some size and is a rebounding monster, basically Steven's insurance/solid backup center.

Why Brooklyn says yes

They get control of their 2027 back which allows for maximum flexibility and doesn't limit the rebuild to two years. Also get to theoretically move up some spots in the 2025 draft.

Both Jabari and Whitmore fit Brooklyn's timeline and would most likely be able to reach their potential with the freedom on Brooklyn they won't get under Ime and a competitive Houston team.
