It’s been reported that the Suns have requested that the Sixers facilitate a trade that would send Tobias Harris to the Suns and Ayton to a third team. For obvious reasons Philly would have no interest in acquiring DA in a trade. This is where Toronto slots right in.

Toronto is looking more and more like they’re headed into a rebuild after firing head coach Nick Nurse, potentially losing Fred Vanvleet in free agency and the expiring contracts of Siakam and Anunoby looming over their heads. Getting a young Center in Ayton to pair alongside Scottie Barnes and rookie Gradey Dick might be the best move for them right now. This also gives them a great opportunity to build a team under the new CBA while most teams are still dreading either signing or losing their stars to max contracts.

Now this may seem like Philly is getting a steal here but Siakam is on an expiring contract and might very well be a 1 year rental. With that said his trade value is as low as it has ever been since their title run in 2019. The Sixers desperately need size, additional scoring and defensive versatility which Siakam immediately takes care of. Not to mention, his familiarity with none other than new Sixers head coach Nick Nurse will certainly come in handy.

As for the Suns, as I mentioned they seem keen on Tobias Harris for Ayton. It makes some sense in that he’s a piece they can stash on the bench or in the starting lineup. His contract is expiring so that clears some cap space the following year when the new CBA kicks in. And similarly to how the Warriors dealt with Jordan Poole, this takes care of having to deal with Ayton’s behavior.
