Sixers: After opening night two things are apparent. 1) Joel Embiid will never be the same athlete again due to his injuries. 2) The Sixers are now Maxey and VJ's team. The thing is, with how good Maxey and VJ looked on the ball, Philly can win a lot of games with the right pieces around them. Unfortunately, Embiid looked ROUGH in Boston, particularly his movement skills. He was barely touching the paint on the offensive end, and defensively looked too stationary. Luckily, his shooting touch and passing IQ should allow him to transition into playing more as a screen & pop guy on offense. On the defensive end, though, he will need help protecting the paint. The Sixers might not have the horses on the roster to do that, so adding Nic Claxton would be a godsend. Given Embiid's hot & cold availability, having a real 5 man that can play 30+ minutes a night with or without Embiid might be exactly what the doctor ordered. Embiid's ability to space on offense makes double big lineups with Claxton possible, which would take some pressure off Embiid as a rim protector. Meanwhile, Terrence Mann would provide Nurse another point of attack defender who can hurt defenses off the ball on offense. Add in getting off the PG contract, and this is worth giving up the draft assets.

Nets: In continuing their surge to the bottom of the standings, the Nets give up two productive starters for a 35 year old with health concerns. As compensation, they get two quality draft assets: an unprotected 2028 Clippers first and an unprotected 2029 swap (most favorable between LAC & PHI). As an added bonus, George and MPJ would form a dynamic podcasting duo that could take the world by storm.
