76ers explode, Blazers and Warriors fight like it's 2015

SUCCESS

Hear me out...

Blazers would shed their logjam of young guards and end up with two nasty downhill attackers in Ja and Deni, along with two wicked outside shooters in Maxey and PG, who fit perfectly next to them. Ja, Deni, and Maxey could lead the best transition attack in the NBA. Gui and Horford provide some needed frontcourt depth, especially as Yang Hansen doesn't seem to be ready for the NBA yet. Lillard slots in nicely as a sixth man if he can recover. They need a starting center and more depth overall, hopefully a few minimums can be found in free agency, but going from one real star to four in one offseason without giving up significant draft capital would be a heck of an overhaul for a team that's been irrelevant for a while.

The Warriors make the greatest upside pitch possible. They have to shed some money to be able to sign LeBron, which unfortunately requires sending out Moody. Instead of having to give up Butler and a lot for AD, they go for a different injury-prone big, but whose price is cheaper and whose ceiling is higher in Embiid. They lose some depth and slight draft capital as well, but they can head into next season with a team with an impossibly high ceiling in Steph, LeBron, Draymond, and Embiid. Podz can start at the 2, with KP as a 6th man and injury protection in case Embiid goes down. Scoot gives them a boost of youth and energy that contrasts with the age and speed of most of the roster, and allows them to have different looks. LeBron and Draymond screening for Steph and cutting off ball while Embiid posts up and a shooter stands in the corner would be a nightmare to guard. If they can bring back Melton and add a ring chaser or two, look out.

The 76ers just hit eject on the whole era. With PG and Embiid's contracts both being so big, there's no point to move one and not the other, and if you do so then you're probably squandering the rest of Maxey's second contract too. This allows for a full rebuild around V.J. and a big youth movement that won't be replicable via tanking in the future. They could start Philon, Sharpe, Edgecombe, Camara, and Clingan together, which would give them a balanced complimentary lineup, if a very young one. Butler and Jrue both played very well last year despite their age, and would be important contributors as well; if Jrue was salary dumped next year, the 76ers could be the only team with real cap space in 2027 and have a bed of ready-made young talent waiting to add the next star. With Moody, Barlow, and Bona slotting in next to the two vets off the bench, this team might even end up scrappy competitors sooner rather than later. With clear books and a restocked asset chest, this team pulls the band-aid off and moves into its next era immediately instead of waiting 2-3 seasons for the PG and Embiid contracts to slowly dwindle away.
