Suns retool, Wolves push in for KD, Nets gain picks for cap relief.

SUCCESS

The most unrealistic part of this trade is Beal waiving his NTC to go to the Nets.

WOLVES: I think this looks like a worse deal for the Wolves than it is. Julius Randle is going to opt out of his player option and become a free agent. The only reason he wouldn't do this is if he knows he is going to get a contract extension if he opts in. As a comparison, think back to when the Celtics traded for Porzingis. Porzingis had a player option with the Wizards and only opted in knowing he would be traded to the Celtics who extended him weeks later. In that deal, the Celtics traded Marcus Smart and got Porzingis and two first round picks in exchange. Porzingis' trade value was low because he was essentially a free agent, not an expiring contract. In this sense, I think Julius Randle isn't going to have a lot of value if he is the center of a Durant deal. Two first round picks from last year, as well as a medium first from this year, will be where the Wolves package gets its value.

SUNS: The Suns turn a terrible experiment into 4/5 pieces of a starting five overnight. Booker/Donte/Cam/Randle/Claxton is a balanced starting five that has size, shooting, defensive versatility, and shot creation. This version of the Suns might not be competing for a championship but at least they're competing to go a few rounds in the playoffs.

NETS: Besides Beal, this is the party most likely to say no. In addition to giving up their two best assets in Cam Johnson and Nic Claxton, they are also taking on two years of a terrible contract. On the other hand, it's only two year, and two years where they're expecting to be terrible anyways. Plus they're getting a top prospect from last year and some other first round talent. I don't know, they probably still need more.
