Suns 2024-2025 Roster:
Jones - Booker - Butler - Durant - Ighodaro
Morris - Okogie - Dunn - O'Neale - Nurkic
Lee - Harris - Houston - Bol - Plumlee
Why Does Each Team Do It?
The Suns break up the awful fit of their current stars and bring in Jimmy Butler, who has lead the Miami Heat to two finals appearances this decade thanks to his talent, leadership, and tenacity. They also free up playing time for Josh Okogie, who has provided great energy and defense for the Suns this year when filling in for injuries.
Detroit receives two first round picks for taking on Bradley Beal's contract. One is a late first rounder in this summer's draft, where the Pistons currently lack draft capital. A 2031 unprotected pick from Phoenix could become a valuable asset if Phoenix continues to struggle even after adding Butler. Not to mention, Bradley Beal himself is still a talented player who can help the Pistons push for the playoffs after Jaden Ivey's injury.
Orlando gives up two benchwarmers and a late first round pick to add a three-point specialist to their roster. The Magic are currently 29th in the league in 3pt attempts per game, and last in the league in 3pt% as a team.
Miami removes the distraction from their locker room without adding a substantial amount of salary beyond this year. They show future free agents that they will assist stars in going to their preferred destination if they request a trade, and prepare for 2026 free agency to build around Herro and Adebayo.
