Why Everyone Does It

Suns: They suck. No getting around it. They rebuild! With Freddy, they have a locker room presence to reduce losing, they get an expiring contract in Toby, and Vassell and Stewart are good young depth pieces. We aren't gonna ignore the fact that they get the Spurs' Atlanta picks and their own picks back from the Rockets as well. Solid for them.

Spurs: They decide to go for it. A starting 5 of Fox, Castle, KD, Sochan, and Wemby is definitely a contender, as well as Mamu, Keldon Johnson, Blake Wesley, Champagnie, and whatever rook they pick up in the draft.

Rockets: They go for it as well. Losing Brooks and VanVleet hurts, but they get Devin Booker! It's worth it! Don't sleep on Barnes as well.

Detroit: They lose Isaiah Stewart, but they make up for the toughness in Brooks, who was practically made for them. They also pick up Allen, helping their spacing tenfold.
