With this trade, the Suns drop below 2nd apron with $17.5m in space (before factoring in Maluach, Fleming, and Brea), and have a minimum of a 1st and 2nd round pick in each year from 2026-2032 with several years having multiple picks. Additionally, there’s now some quality depth, size, spacing, and scoring versatility with this group that could even make them a potential play-in team if healthy.

Starters: Williams – Harris – Brooks – Beal – Green Bench: Richards – Holland – Dunn – Allen – Carter Depth: Maluach – Ighodaro – Fleming – Brea – Gillespie

Green would have to focus on improving his handling, playmaking, and defense, but that’s very possible at just 23 years old. Beal gets to be a main scoring option again, his contract and skill set aren’t as wasted as they otherwise would be with Booker, and the rest of the team provides a lot of length and 3/D style players. Losing Booker is tough, but this team isn’t going to compete as currently constructed and he’s one of the few players that has positive value right now. Let him go home, let the Suns rise from the ashes again.

Even after this trade, Pistons still retain a lot of draft capital and have a legitimately powerful team that they can build on for years. They still have $30m in cap space this season after factoring in Booker and LeVert, too. For Booker, he gets to return home and compete in the East for years to come. I think he’d be a perennial all-star in the East.
