Massive trade to blow up Suns, KD to Spurs, Houston gets Booker, Fox to MN, Nets use their space

FAILED

Note: This trade would have to be two seperate transactions, and I would probably have to be moved aroud timeline wise for the sake of moving around the apron rules

Minnesota justification:

  • Wolves capitalize on an available Fox (I predict Spurs take Harper in this case as their PG of the future, basically think what they traded for Fox + Johnson for Durant). They definitely get the best deal in this case, not giving up much to get a huge upgrade at PG. Probably the biggest shifting point of this trade, and likely causes it not to work. But I'd love it. Maybe their first back to SA gets the conversation going more seriously. I also think moving one of their young guards for a different backup big could be an interesting move that helps the team make more sense.

Lineup: PG: Fox SG: Ant SF: Jaden PF: Naz Bench: Conely, DDV, TSJ, Clark, first round whoever

Spurs Justification:

  • Spurs get Durant for basically Fox and Johnson. Reminder, they didn't trade much to get Fox, so although this hurts a bit, it's not awful. Again, I think they do this knowing Harper and Castle is their back court. They get to go for a vet legend who's still awesome, while keeping all their best young guys and their draft picks. Fox is new but also definitely expendable.

Lineup: PG: Harper/Castle/Vassel SG: Vassel/Castle SF: Durant PF: Sohan C: Wemby Bench: Harper/Castle/Vassel, Barnes, 12th pick, FA signing

Nets Justification:

  • Nets become a contract dumping ground to get control of their 2027 pick, and get a young player in Dillingham. They continue the rebuild for a pretty low cost, and keep valuable trade asset Cam Johnson.

Lineup: I don't care to go through this, this roster is pretty bad

Suns Justification:

  • Suns finally pull the plug on the KD/Booker experiment. They can go a lot of different directions but I think blowing it up, especially in this western conference, makes the most sense. They get young guys to start the rebuild around and most of their picks. They can also flip the young guys to other teams to get the rest of their picks back if they want. Green, Jabari, and Johnson become the faces of the rebuild. Honestly, this roster is not that bad, and they could turn it around quickly if any of the young guys become stars.

Lineup: PG: Green SG: Beal SF: Johnson/Eason PF: Jabari C: Claxton Bench: Johnson/Eason, Allen, O'Neale

Rockets Justification:

  • Rockets go for it and get Booker. I'm not sure this is worth it for them, but it's so hard to say. Booker becomes the face of a solid team, with a young duo of Sengun and Thompsen, solid vets, and a star SG in Booker. Booker has a massive bounce back year, reminding people he's a top 10 caliber player when his team is actually good. Houston becomes arguably the second best team in an insanely stacked west. Is it a bit of an overpay? Maybe, but I think they could be convinced.

Lineup: PG: Fred SG: Booker SF: Amen PF: Whittmore/Brooks C: Sengun Bench: Whittmore/Brooks, Reed, Adams, couple guys on the MLE

Verdict: Biggest breaking points are SA and Houston in my opinion. I think SA could be convinced to build around the young guys, keeping their picks and just sending out Fox and Johnson for KD if MN included a pick. Houston is the toughest one though. Is Booker good enough to justify a crazy haul? Bane just went for the same amount picks wise, but that trade didn't include valuable young players that Houston is trading. I think MN says yes, even if they have to include their first this year. Probably a yes from Brooklyn, and if Booker requests a trade/Phoenix wants to blow it up, I think this is enough for them. Picks could be shuffled around a bit to make this deal work
