Team Statement:
Kyrie Irving will be dealt/traded before the season starts! The Knicks Front Office was so hopeful in signing Kyrie and building on their future together in this league. However, Kyrie has refused to embrace New York’s (culture). From avoiding teammates off the court to not attending any NYC outreach events.
Kyrie spoke with the GM yesterday after avoiding calls for a week. The GM explained that the Knicks had signed him, believing they had mutual interest in properly representing the city and wanted to build a championship team with talented icons. Kyrie’s response of being “attacked” for enjoying time away in the off-season had concerned the GM. The GM became worried that Kyrie only signed for the money.
The KNICKS GM made a HARD call. He decided Kyrie would now be traded for young talent/future assets. That NYC culture needed to be at the core of their team at whatever cost. Kyrie may not be the bad guy here, it could just be a giant misunderstanding. But both sides are at an impasse. Neither budging. The Knicks will be looking to act on a “STRONG” deal to give away the most gifted ball handler in the league.
Many teams have already inquired on his availability and Knicks are making it known, Kyrie isn’t a Knick anymore. But a talent of his level, will be a high ticket price for anyone looking to become a championship contender.
