Why trade??
Clippers have been straight up bad. real bad. bottom of the league bad. After a year of 50 wins and the 5 seed they have fallen off hard. The thing to point to right now is their loss of guard play in Norman Powel and clunky fit with Collins.
If they want to keep this thing going with Harden and Kawhai, and all indication say that they do, then they need to retool around them and preferably get younger. Moody and Kuminga offer a combo of positions that the Clippers would want to fill while being on favorable contracts and much younger than the guys they replace. The picks add security and a bridge from the old heads to the new era they will be building.
Giving up Zubacs would be very hard however I believe you would be trading him at his height of tradable value at a time when shaking the snowglobe is necessary.
Warriors largely waive good bye to the young core and future view to go for it now. Adding Zubacs would be the injection of size and interior presence that it feels they are really lacking over the last few years now. I worry a bit about the spacing with Zubacs, Jimmy, and Dray sharing the floor though. Collins could sitll provide some punch off the bench and also allow for offseason cap felxability
Why no trade??
If I am being completely honest I dont think I make this move fromthe Clippers presepective. The Clippers do suck right now but they have so much cap flexability this offseason if they dont make any moves. Collins, Bogdan, Lopez and Batum all could come off the payroll next season for a total of 57M freed up while still keeping the core of Harden, Kawhai, and Zubac. Maybe throwing in Quentin Post from the Warriors to fill the center spot? Remove the 1rp protection? Clippers fans what do you think??
