Been a lot of AD to Warriors noise lately, so I tried building a deal where GSW doesn’t have to give up Jimmy or Draymond.
Anthony Davis basically fixes the Warriors’ 2 biggest issues: they need an athletic big with real rim presence and a real 3rd scoring option next to Steph and Jimmy. And defensively… hell yeah. If this happens, GSW should instantly be one of the best defenses in the league. Dray + AD could legit be an all-time defensive frontcourt duo. Only real risk is the obvious one: availability, because a hurt AD helps nobody. So it’s a high risk, high reward move because you’re giving up multiple young guys and a lot of your depth to make it happen. But I’d still like it for GSW because it’s a rare “buy-low” superstar swing (similar to the Butler situation). You’re not fully shipping out your whole future with multiple 1sts + every young guy. Even Kerr has recently talked about how those “empty the cupboard” superstar trades can get ugly later (like Clippers, Suns or Bucks) and this AD move doesn’t really fall into that category.
From a Mavs standpoint reports say they want at least one impactful young talent and Kuminga keeps popping up. Also think Simons could be more interesting for them than most of the other Warriors “extra” pieces (gives them another real young scoring guard). So Dallas ends up with Kuminga + Podz + Simons + a 2026 1st, that’s a pretty fair haul for an injury-prone AD and it also lines up if they’re thinking longer-term and wants to build around Flagg.
I used Boston as the 3rd team since they can flip Simons with his expiring contract into multiple playable contracts and grabbed a 2nd as a sweetener. Also… Horford reunion just feels way better than sending him to some non-playoff situation.
What do y’all think of this trade? I’m also not 100% sure on the picks, so if you’d change anything let me know...
