Warriors try to extend Curry's window; Nets get off Simmons; Heat add wing-depth; Jazz get 3 picks to add to the pile

Going to do a mini series on some trades I think the Warriors could try. This trade is the biggest swing I could see the Warriors making, but this trade is probably very unlikely

Warriors receive: Lauri Markkanen

Nets receive: Andrew Wiggins Kelly Olynyk THT

Heat receive: Moses Moody

Jazz receive: Ben Simmons Brandin Podziemski (Could be swapped out with Kuminga if preferred) Warriors top 5 protected pick in 2027 Philadelphia's Top 8 Protected in 2027 Heat Top 8 Protected pick in 2027

Why the Warriors do this: The Warriors are 10-12 after starting the season looking like contenders. While they've had some great bench depth, it feels like a consolidation move is needed to get the team back into front runner stats

Why the Nets do this: Olynyk is a solid enough center who can contribute, and can be re-signed for the Nets near-term future or to be flipped, or simply can be let walk. Andrew Wiggins is a little more than a year removed from being the #2 on a Championship team; he is athletic, under 30, and on a great team friendly contract. THT never worked out like the Lakers wanted, but he expires at the end of this season. They get off Ben Simmons a year early, and all this costs is a top 8 protected Philly pick

Why the Heat do this: The Heat are in a bit of a bind after the last several super star chases, losing out to Phoenix (twice!), Milwaukee, and Boston. And looking towards the future, it doesn't seem to get any better, with Utah and OKC having boatloads of picks to outbid anyone if someone they like becomes available. Simply put, the league doesn't value Herro on that contract, and people are apprehensive on the Heat's picks. So why not make a low risk move that gets them a wing that could contribute right now and fits Heat Culture? And if a piece does become available that the Thunder or the Jazz don't pursue, Moody will likely be valued more than a Heat first.

Why the Jazz do this: Lauri had a good year. Really good. Had one of the best single growth year in recent memory. But the key part of that is the singular word, year. Mitchell had years with the Jazz where he was a perennial all-star; the Wolves made a big swing for Gobert who is not just a DPOY candidate but an entire defensive system. Could Lauri's value go higher? Sure; it could also go lower when he gets off one of the best contracts in the NBA and gets on a max or near max deal. But getting 3 picks (2 top 8 and 1 top 5), a young rookie with promise (or if they prefer, they could get Kuminga instead), and Ben Simmons' 2 year contract. Rehabbing Ben is pretty unlikely but hey, he'd only be on the team for a season and a half!
