π OFFSEASON ANALYSIS β FULL DEEP DIVE
π Key Trades
βͺοΈ Outgoing:
Jonathan Kuminga (S&T, $21M) β To Kings
High-upside, athletic two-way forward, just 22 years old. Still raw but showed flashes of star-level shot creation and defensive versatility. Very RAW though. Doesn't fit the Warriors system.
Moses Moody ($11.5M) β To Jazz
Solid 3&D wing, high basketball IQ, great playoff poise for his age. Efficient, low-mistake player.
βͺοΈ Incoming: Malik Monk ($18.7M x 3 years) β From Kings
Explosive scorer, shot creator, excellent pick-and-roll threat. Career-highs in scoring and playmaking. Good fit next to Steph.
3 Second-Round Picks
Additional assets that can be used in future trades or roster flexibility.
π Summary:
You converted two young, cost-controlled assets into a legit third scorer (Monk) and win-now role players. It's a bold push for contention.
ποΈ Free Agent Signings
Al Horford (1 yr, $5.6M)
Veteran leadership, spacing, post defense, elite IQ. Even at 39, still effective in spurts β especially come playoffs.
DeβAnthony Melton (1 yr, $3M)
Tough, smart defender. Combo guard with playoff experience. Plays great next to Steph, we saw proof of that last year at the start of the season.
Chris Boucher (1 yr, $3.3M)
Energy big, floor spacer, good shot blocker. Can stretch the floor at PF or C.
Amir Coffey (1 yr, $3M)
Wing depth. Low-usage 3&D guy who plays smart and fits within system play.
Gary Payton II (1 yr, $3.6M)
Defensive specialist and transition finisher. Keeps continuity and defensive culture alive.
𧩠PROJECTED ROTATION
β Starting Lineup
PG: Stephen Curry
Still elite. One of the best players in the NBA.
SG: De'Anthony Melton
Perfect fit next to Steph, brings that 3&D two guard the Warriors love.
SF: Jimmy Butler
Veteran closer, physical defender, can run offense. Likely to coast during the regular season, but playoff switch-flip is real.
PF: Draymond Green
Defensive anchor, vocal leader, elite passer. Declining a bit physically, but still essential.
C: Al Horford
Floor spacer, communicator, veteran IQ. Not a long-minutes guy but works in system and provides playoff poise.
π‘ Alternative starters in some matchups:
Trayce Jackson-Davis (for more rim protection)
Chris Boucher (Rim protection and length)
Malik Monk (If more scoring is needed in the staring lineup you can insert him in)
π Bench Unit
G: Malik Monk β High volume scorer, who brings energy and a good 6th man for this team.
G: Buddy Hield β pure shooter, spacing weapon, showed promising defense last season.
G/F: Brandin Podziemski β smart, tough, creative guard. Real potential.
G/F: Gary Payton II β elite on ball defense, great attacking the rim.
F: Amir Coffey β solid, switchable wing, great Steve Kerr player.
F/C: Chris Boucher β energy, length, rim protection, shooting.
F/C: Trayce Jackson-Davis β inside presence, rebounding, short-roll passing.
F: Gui Santos β young, athletic forward with potential.
C: Quinten Post β stretch big, backup floor-spacing 5 with size, needs to become solid on defense.
π STRENGTHS
β Veteran Depth & Versatility
Youβve built a playoff-optimized roster. 1β10 rotation guys all have defined roles and playoff experience.
β Shot Creation
Between Steph, Butler, Monk, and Hield, thereβs no shortage of buckets β including multiple 4th-quarter closers.
β Switchable Defense (Situational)
While losing Moody/Kuminga hurts here, your lineup still features:
Draymond (elite)
Butler (physical)
GP2, Melton (point-of-attack)
Coffey, Boucher (switchable wings)
β Locker Room & Leadership
Butler, Curry, Draymond, Horford β all veterans who lead vocally and by example. This team is mentally tough.
β Cap Management
You avoided second apron hard cap issues, preserved flexibility, and acquired picks in the process.
β WEAKNESSES & RISKS
β Aging Core
Curry (37), Draymond (35), Butler (35), Horford (39) β managing health and load is crucial. Depth helps, but slippage is a risk. They did add Monk for that scoring upside in the regular season though.
β Lost Youth/Long-Term Upside
Kuminga and Moody could become good players down the line. If either pops off, this trade will age poorly from a future-value perspective. As of right now, Kuminga doesn't fit the Warriors and Moody seems out of place.
β Interior Defense / Rebounding
Post/Horford/Boucher are more finesse bigs solid, but not elite rebounders. You're vulnerable to physical frontcourts (like Denver, or Dallas). Draymond is still elite defensively though and the Warriors were a top 5 rebounding team in the NBA last season.
π FINAL VERDICT
πΉ Youβre going all-in β and it shows.
This offseason the Warriors would've:
Built around Curryβs timeline
Added elite scoring and playoff-tested vets
Got deep, switchable, experienced personnel
This version of the Warriors is stronger in the short term than the past two seasons and will contend if healthy. You sacrificed upside, but if Monk thrives and Butler still has gas left, this roster is dangerous come May/June. All about giving Steph a CHANCE!
