Probably my biggest "hear me out" yet. Let's just get right into the reasoning shall we?
Bobby Portis is hella valuable to the Bucks for 2 reasons, 1) he's a big who can set screens and roll, 2) he can be a spot up shooter and 3&D guy when they need him to. This trade essentially just splits his roles into 2 players, Goga and DFS. DFS can do the catch and shoot 3&D part, Goga can handle the big man duties. Does that make it bearable for the Bucks to lose Portis? From my honest standpoint, yes. DFS is having a down year right now, but there's no doubt in my mind that he can get back to his former level. Goga isn't the mobile on his feet guy that Bobby is, but he's sure to give real big men a true test in the paint and screen and role than Bobby ever could. And Jamal Cain is an underrated pick-up, having earned himself a contract after balling out for Orlando this season. He's a good 3 point shooter, he can attack in the half-court, put the ball on the floor and he can run for a catch and shoot. They also get a first round pick that is a favorable from Dallas and Phoenix, and with those teams' trajectories going up it might just be a late first rounder, but I'll say it's decent.
For the Rockets, I was mentioning how the Bucks are just splitting Bobby into 2, well the Bucks are merging DFS and Capela into 1. Right now he can play DFS' role better than DFS can, but can he do the double big stint that Clint was good for? Considering Clint was only used for like 12 minutes a game, I say for just that amount time, yeah he can! And it's not like they're losing so much value in these 2 players in the first place. Does the pick really break the deal? I don't think so, especially since you're parting with a pick that isn't yours and instead belongs to two teams who don't seem like they'll be able to net you a lottery pick in 2029. I think the Rockets stay moderately the same while weirdly improving at the same time with this trade.
And the Magic, well losing Goga might be a bit bad, but I feel like he's replaceable with the likes of Capela, and the addition of KPJ which could be huge for them. He's an underrated shot creator right now in Milwaukee and has been focusing on his facilitator roles a lot more too. He's making a cool 5.1 mil off the shelves, and with the starting Point Guard spot all set, he looks like an absolute bargain of a backup PG.
